Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato DOC 2023 5+1 promo

Elegante en sappige witte wijn van Pigato druiven uit de Riviera Ligure di Ponente wijnregio in Ligurië, Noordwest-Italië. De wijngaarden liggen tussen 350 en 450 meter hoogte, nabij het dorpje Dolceacqua, dicht bij de Franse grens.

Pigato is a local variant of Vermentino: genetically the same grape, but while Vermentino is found all over Liguria, Pigato belongs to the western part, the Ponente, where it went its own way and adapted to this coastline. Terre Bianche picks it at around 400 metres in its Terrabianca, Scartozzoni and Arcagna vineyards. The result is a full, round white that still stays fresh and balanced. And the name? It comes from the rust-coloured speckles ('pigau' in dialect) on the ripe grapes.
