Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC NID 2020
Sappige en complexe rode wijn van Barbera druiven uit de Roero wijnregio in Piemonte, Noordwest-Italië. De wijngaarden liggen ten noorden van de stad Alba en de Tanaro rivier, vlakbij de grens met de provincie Asti.
The Barbera for NID grows on the windier, drier south-west-facing plots of the estate. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matures for eight to ten months in small wooden barrels (barriques) of French oak and at least another six months in bottle. The result is a round, velvety Barbera with juicy red fruit, fresh acidity and, thanks to the oak ageing, lovely complexity. The name means 'nest' in Piedmontese dialect, a cosy, sheltered place, and sounds like 'need' in English.
