Roero DOCG FIL 2021

Elegant and complex red wine from the Roero wine region in Piemonte, north-west Italy, made from Nebbiolo grapes. The vineyards lie north of Alba and the Tanaro river, close to the border with the province of Asti.

FIL is Carlo Casetta's calling card: a Roero made from 100% Nebbiolo from his south-facing vineyards. The wine matures for a year in small wooden barrels (barriques) of French oak and then at least six months in bottle. The result is a smooth, spicy Nebbiolo with velvety tannins and a long finish. In Piedmontese dialect, the name means 'thread', but also a direct bond with the terroir, and in English it sounds like 'feel'.

This Roero DOCG FIL 2021 pairs perfectly with red meat, grilled meat or game, or simply on its own as a delicious meditation wine.
