Langhe DOC Nebbiolo La Chiusa 2020

Elegant and powerful red wine from the Langhe wine region in Piemonte, north-west Italy, made from Nebbiolo grapes. The vineyards lie mostly in the San Luigi cru in Dogliani, south of the Barolo area, and partly in Monforte d'Alba, within the Barolo area.

As early as the start of the 20th century, the Chionetti family planted some Nebbiolo on the lower, south-facing plots of San Luigi, where Dolcetto ripened less well. Today La Chiusa comes from those same vineyards, with a period in large wooden casks (botti) of French oak. An elegant, fresh Nebbiolo that lets you discover the Chionetti style without having to wait for a Barolo.

This Langhe DOC Nebbiolo La Chiusa 2020 pairs perfectly with red meat, pasta or starters such as risotto with porcini mushrooms or truffle, or as a meditation wine.

Martina and Nicola Chionetti, with Alessandro, are the fifth generation of the Chionetti family in Dogliani, in the Langhe, where Dolcetto has always taken centre stage. Each wine comes from a single vineyard (cru) and matures in large wooden casks (botti), steamed rather than toasted. Since 2015 they have also made exceptionally elegant Barolos.
