Etna Rosso DOC Mofete 2022

Fresh and juicy red wine from the Etna wine region in Sicily, southern Italy, made from Nerello Mascalese (80%) and Nerello Cappuccio (20%) grapes. The vineyards lie on the northern slopes of the volcano, with 30-year-old vines.

Mofete Rosso is Palmento Costanzo's Etna Rosso: Nerello Mascalese complemented by Nerello Cappuccio, picked by hand in October. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matures for a year, half in large wooden casks (botti) of oak and half in stainless steel, and then another year in bottle. The result is a fresh, juicy Etna Rosso with red fruit and a mineral touch.

This Etna Rosso DOC Mofete 2022 pairs perfectly with an Italian cheese and charcuterie board, poultry, pasta with meat, rich tomato-based dishes or red meat, but just as well with fish.

Serena Costanzo and her mother Valeria Agosta run the Palmento Costanzo estate on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Since Valeria and her husband Mimmo founded it in 2010, the estate has been fully organic, working with the typical grape varieties of its unique volcanic soil.
