Nizza DOCG Augusta 2016

Complex and rich red wine from the Monferrato wine region in Piemonte, north-west Italy, made from Barbera grapes. The vineyards lie in Calamandrana, one of the 18 municipalities of the Nizza DOCG, an area known for some of the finest and most complex expressions of Barbera.

Nizza is the top tier of Barbera d'Asti Superiore, with very strict rules for both vineyard and wine. Isolabella della Croce ages Augusta for twelve months in small wooden barrels (barriques) of oak, and the wine may only be sold after at least eighteen months. The result is a powerful, impressively structured Barbera that still remains pure and elegant.

This Nizza DOCG Augusta 2016 pairs perfectly with rich, hearty dishes such as pasta with meat or tomato-based dishes, roast or grilled red meat, poultry or game, or as a meditation wine.
