Etna Rosso DOC Nero di Sei 2020

Elegant and complex red wine from the Etna wine region in Sicily, southern Italy, made from Nerello Mascalese (90%) and Nerello Cappuccio (10%) grapes. The vineyards lie on the northern slopes of the volcano, with the oldest vines (vecchie vigne).

For Nero di Sei, Palmento Costanzo picks the Nerello Mascalese in Contrada Santo Spirito only in mid-October, with deliberately low yields. After fermentation in wood, in conical oak vats, the wine matures for two years in large wooden casks (botti) of oak and another year in bottle. The result is an elegant, vertical Etna Rosso with fresh minerality and silky tannins.

This Etna Rosso DOC Nero di Sei 2020 pairs perfectly with an Italian cheese and charcuterie board, poultry, pasta with meat, rich tomato-based dishes, red meat or roast meat.

Serena Costanzo and her mother Valeria Agosta run the Palmento Costanzo estate on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Since Valeria and her husband Mimmo founded it in 2010, the estate has been fully organic, working with the typical grape varieties of its unique volcanic soil.
