Alto Adige DOC Chardonnay 2023

Fresh and refined white wine from the Alto Adige-Südtirol wine region in north-east Italy, made from Chardonnay grapes. The vineyards lie in a unique terroir at 630 metres, at the foot of the Dolomites.

The Motta family firmly believes in Chardonnay: with low yields and great care in the cellar, it becomes, in their own words, 'a true superstar' here. The grapes come from their own south- and south-west-facing vineyards and are picked entirely by hand. Around 80% of the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel and 20% in small wooden barrels (barriques); the two are blended before bottling. The result is a dry, mineral and balanced Chardonnay with lovely acidity and a long finish.

This Alto Adige DOC Chardonnay 2023 is perfect as an aperitif or with appetisers, pasta, shellfish, fish, white meat or fresh cheeses.

The Motta family, including brothers Francesco and Filippo, swapped Rome for the beautiful Alto Adige wine region at the foot of the Dolomites to follow their passion: winegrowing. Since 2004 they have tended 3.5 hectares of vineyards on steep slopes at 630 metres, surrounded by woodland and nature reserves.
