Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG Serena 2022

Intense and complex red wine from the Monferrato wine region in Piemonte, north-west Italy, made from Barbera grapes. The vineyards lie in Calamandrana, one of the 18 municipalities of the Nizza DOCG, an area known for some of the finest and most complex expressions of Barbera.

The grapes for Serena come from an Isolabella della Croce vineyard in Calamandrana, in the Nizza area, some distance from the estate in Loazzolo. This site gives a concentrated Barbera, which then matures for twelve months in large wooden casks (botti) of French oak. The result is a complex, elegant Barbera with lovely fruit and a firm structure, made for rich Piemonte dishes.

This Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG Serena 2022 pairs perfectly with pasta with meat, rich tomato-based dishes and main courses of roast or grilled red meat.
