Fresh and lively red wine from the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba wine region in Marche, central Italy, made from Lacrima grapes. The vineyards lie at 100 metres, with relatively young vines averaging 10 years old.

Lacrima is a rare, ancient and local grape from the province of Ancona. Vigna degli Estensi grows it itself in Roncitelli, near Senigallia, and matures the wine for three months in stainless steel and terracotta, followed by a year in bottle. The result is a juicy, smooth red with a strikingly floral character and a fresh touch. The name refers to Ovid's Pyramus and Thisbe, whose blood, legend says, turned the mulberries red: the very fruit you recognise in the aroma of Lacrima.

This Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC Piramo 2024 pairs perfectly with an Italian cheese and charcuterie board, fine cured meats, mild cheeses, pasta with meat or even fried fish.
