Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2016

Intense and complex red wine from the Valpolicella Classico wine region in Veneto, north-east Italy, made from Corvina and Corvinone (65%), Rondinella (30%) and Molinara (5%) grapes. The grapes come from vines trained on the traditional Veronese pergola in the hills around Marano di Valpolicella.

For the Amarone, Clementi selects the finest bunches of the year and leaves them to dry in small wooden crates for three to four months before pressing. After years of ageing in large wooden casks (botti) of oak, the result is what Italians call a 'vino da meditazione': a wine to be savoured slowly and attentively.

This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2016 pairs perfectly with game, braised red meat or mature cheeses, or simply on its own as a meditation wine. Ideally, open the bottle three hours beforehand.
